Scientific Name: Litopenaeus Vannamei
Vannamei Shrimp is one of the most valuable traded shrimp species, mostly known as White Leg Shrimp, These Shrimps are farmed in both Asia and Latin America. It has surpassed black tiger shrimp to become the single most important commercial species of shrimp in the world. It is known for its slightly sweet meaty taste, softshell, and a soft structure. India and Vietnam are producing Vannamei in a great number from Asia to the World. Quality shrimp should have a crisp bite or snap and a pleasant shrimp taste. There should be no musty aftertaste. Shrimp can be seasoned and used in an infinite variety of preparations.
